New marathon world record

Geoffrey Mutai’s 2:03:01 this morning in Boston is the fastest marathon ever by nearly a minute. It tops Gebrselassie’s 2008 mark, and is the largest drop in the world record in more than 40 years.

This was a great Marathon. I was very disappointed with Ryan Hall’s race though. Yes, he ran the fastest of any US runner, but he has yet to win a Marathon. Was gunning for him. He had the lead for a long time. Being a front runner is fine with me, as long as you win. Hall is a front runner who doesn’t win. Also, great run by Davila who came in second for the women. I loved the announcer, “this is like the yankees vs. red sox” when her and the two Kenyan runners were around mile 23.

I also do not understand why this guys world record won’t count, but Ryan Halls US time will. Anyone who can fill me in on that would be great.
